I always told myself that I would never do the things to my kids that my mom did to me, well that all has gone out the window! Over the last week I have done two of those things....I spit cleaned the dried formula off my son's face and I picked his dried booger for him. What's wrong with me? Just thinking about both of those things grosses me out but I guess he can't do it himself so I had to do it for him. This all reminds me of a story my aunt sent me...
I was packing for my business trip and my three year old daughter was having a wonderful time playing on the bed. At one point she said, 'Daddy, look at this' , and stuck out two of her fingers. Trying to keep her entertained, I reached out and stuck her tiny fingers in my mouth and said, 'Daddy's gonna eat your fingers,' pretending to eat them. I went back to packing, looked up again and my daughter was standing on the bed staring at her fingers with a devastated look on her face. I said, 'What's wrong, honey?' She replied, 'What happened to my booger?'
Also over the last week Tristan has had a few doctor's appointments. On Wednesday he had his stitches taken out and he didn't even wake up or flinch! He's mommy's big boy! Then on Thursday he had his first pediatrician appointment and I am happy to say he is gaining his weight back! He was 6lbs and 9.6oz and was 19 1/4 inches long. He was doing so well that he didn't need to come back until his 2 month check up! The same day we also had to go back to the hospital and have his 2nd PKU test done, it's to make sure his body is doing okay with formula. Apparently some babies reject the formula and it can cause mental retardation. Then he went with me to my OB check up and my doctor absolutely fell in love with Tristan. She took him and showed him off to everyone working in the office. He is a ladies man for sure. He peepee ring and umbilical cord has fallen off finally and he was able to take his first "real" bath.
Tristan also had a wonderful second baby shower this weekend. He recieved tons of diapers and clothes and other essentials. Other than that we have had a pretty easy time since my mom has been here helping since Tristan has been born. I am going to be lost when she finally goes home in a few days.
